4 Things to Do with Your Family During the Holidays
The weeks leading up to the holidays can be a bit hectic, So, it’s essential to try to reserve some time for fun and relaxation with the family and for yourself when the holidays finally come. Below are some ideas for you to consider.
Have Fun.
Taking a day or a night for a fun outing that you don’t usually do can provide just the break that you need after spending days working, shopping, and holiday prepping. A fun outing doesn’t need to cost much.
- Enjoy the snow. Rain in California often brings snow in our mountains. Be sure to check the weather and driving conditions (sometimes chains are needed) before heading up to the higher elevation snow play. With the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway (reservations highly recommended, you can enjoy warmer temps at Coachella Valley (Palm Springs area) and a “winter wonderland” at the top of the San Jacinto Peak.
- Spend an afternoon at the park. No matter where you live, there’s likely to be a park near you. Pack the frisbees, balls, and a picnic and enjoy the afternoon with family and friends.
- Visit Recreation Connection. AHFCU has a partnership with Recreation Connection to provide our members with discounts on entertainment and travel. Click here to get started.
“Let it Go.”
Yes, Frozen 2 is out, and if you haven’t seen that, that’s another option for a few hours of fun. But, the “letting go” that we’re talking about is forgiveness. Forgiving can help you as much as it helps the other person. Studies show that it’s beneficial for your health. By finding a way to forgive, you can give yourself more peace and happiness, as it helps shifts your mental focus from negative to positive thoughts and attitudes.
Take care of yourself.
Much of the holiday season is about giving to others, which is good, but it’s also important to take care of yourself. Whether it’s going for a walk, reading a book, or scheduling time to have coffee with friends, do something that makes YOU feel happy and good.
Get ready for the New Year.
Regardless of what kind of year 2019 was for you, we’re all about to embark on a new year, the start of 2020. Wherever you are in life, it’s best to try to go into the new year with a positive attitude. Making a Family New Year’s Resolution or a Family Time Capsule can be great ways to celebrate.
AHFCU’s wish for you is that you’ll have a happy and peaceful holiday season and a prosperous New Year.
