Life’s a Beach with Allied Healthcare FCU

At Allied Healthcare Federal Credit Union, we love our community. Long Beach is our home and healthcare workers are our people and it fills us with pride when we get to show up for both.

We had a blast participating in MemorialCare Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital annual Beach Day on August 4, in which the hospital transforms an auditorium in their facility into a beach paradise for their pediatric patients. Because they are hospitalized, these patients aren’t able to enjoy the beach or other summertime fun so MemorialCare’s Cherese Mari Laulhere Child Life Program, Allied Healthcare FCU and an army of community members made sure to bring the fun to them. There were live super heroes, firefighters, magicians, beach games, giveaways and ice cream, helping the kids take a break from their treatments. It was so much fun seeing the kids forget they were in a hospital for even a few minutes.

Allied also participated in MemorialCare’s Heart Surgery Reunion and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Reunion, which brings together former patients, their families and the care teams who helped them recover. Patients and care teams form special bonds, especially when the care is life-savings and seeing healthy or recovering patients reunite with care teams is a wonderful sign of the progress they’ve made. We were thrilled to be a small part of it all.

Healthcare workers are heroes and that was abundantly clear during all the Beach Day activities. We are proud to serve the people who serve our community so well.
